we plan to stop by on out way up to New Paltz on a sat. afraid we won’t make the last 4 pm tour. anyone knows if we’d be able to walk around the grounds & see the mansion fr outside if we don’t do a tour? thnx!

Yes you can, however, you'll pay an entrance fee. It was $5 in July, 2019. The grounds are beautiful and they do allow picnics, but the house is amazing! They often have private events …
Yes you can, however, you'll pay an entrance fee. It was $5 in July, 2019. The grounds are beautiful and they do allow picnics, but the house is amazing! They often have private events on the grounds, so you need to check at the gate. The park is open til dusk.
Are backpacks allowed and is there a place to leave them in the mansion?
A:
On our tour no one asked to “check” their bag. Nearby at the Armour/Stiner Octagon House, however, purses, backpacks, etc. had to be locked in our cars.
