This was an amazing experience. As two adults we spent 6 hours here and only saw maybe 60% of everything. Could easily spend 2 days here. There's a ton of information everywhere and you can really … Full review by poejuggalo

You can buy a single ticket entrance or a package ticket for the open air museum and Burgers Zoo and Safari at a slight discount. I am not sure if you can buy a museum card at the gate as these require a photo and they did not seem to have any camera's there. They do have a souvenir shop at the entrance/exit, so you may be able to purchase one there. In any case, if you have time, just send them an email, I am sure you will get a helpful response. If you want to buy a museum pass, I suggest you do so online, but check if it makes financial sense, for us, traveling with small children, it didn't.

Zaanse Schans has 2 types of attractions, windmills of several sorts (only 1 or 2 are admission free) and a shoe factory (which is free as well). There are lots of photo ops. We visited only one additional windmill which I found fascinating but the kids were not so impressed. The most intense memory my kids have of Zaanse Schans is the foul smell of the chocolate factory on the other riverbank (I never imagined that a chocolate factory can smell that awful) One the other hand the Open Air Museum has a lot of exhibitions spread on a large area (with a connecting train), most of them are various types of houses of differents eras and regions in the Netherlands. The exhibitions we found most interesting were of old professions, such as boat maker, broom maker, honeybee keeper. In addition the Open Air Museum can be enjoyable even when the weather is less than perfect.

There are.several possibilities. However, bus line nr. 3 offers a service 4 times per hour. Direction: Burgers' Zoo, stop at "Openluchtmuseum". The bus will go to Burgers Zoo first and then will arrive at "Openluchtmuseum " (5 min. walking to the museum) As it is a trolleybus, electrically driven like a tram on rails, it is a nice experience as well. Wish you a pleasant and interesting visit!
