Troy is a city in and the county seat of Doniphan County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 964. Troy is part of the St. Joseph, MO–KS Metropolitan Statistical Area. Troy was platted in 1855. It was named after the ancient city of Troy. The first house in Troy was built in 1856, and the first store opened in 1857. Troy was incorporated as a city in 1860. The first post office in Troy was established in March, 1857.
