Being early May, we didn't need reservations to travel this amazing road, nor was the loop especially crowded; meaning one could travel slowly and/or pullover easily without impeding others. This is … Full review by RICART75

I am not familiar with the campgrounds in the park because we only decided to go to Acadia with 2-3 weeks notice and availability was super limited. We ended up staying at the Bar Harbor campground right near the entrance to the park. This place doesn't take reservations so you just show up when people are leaving in the am and get a site. This may not have been as visually appealing as some of the park campgrounds may have been, but we still got to see all the great sights anyway. If you have time to plan or are going during a less busy period perhaps someone else can point you in the right direction for park campgrounds. If limited availability becomes a concern, definitely check out Bar Harbor campground.

Here's what the website says: Operating Hours/Seasons. Acadia National Park is open all year long. ... The Park Visitor Center, museums, picnic areas, Seawall Campground, and many of the roads close during the winter. The road to the summit of Cadillac Mountain, as well as most of the Park Loop Road, closes from December 1 through April 14. So, it looks like November is ok. Randall

Both answers are pretty much on target. If you plan on going off season or during the week, maybe a little bit more quickly. As for Cadillac mountain, try to go there first because it will be the most crowded. And even if you don’t get there for sunrise, it is still magnificent no matter when you arrive.
