An American Airlines flight traveling from New York to New Delhi was diverted to Rome Sunday for "security reasons," according to a officials from the airline.

A flight from New York to New Delhi had to be diverted to Rome because of a bomb threat. "This is particularly true if Russia assesses that the US cannot or will not support the European NATO countries in a war with Russia."

Two Italian military fighter jets flanked American Airlines Flight 292 as it arrived but the Federal Aviation Administration did not elaborate on what was the security issue aboard the plane.
