The U.S. government is about a week away from another potential government shutdown. The deadlock mirrors the situation the House found itself in last year.

The federal government shuts down in less than two weeks and the latest effort to keep the government’s doors open failed Wednesday night leaving the next steps in question.

House Speaker Mike Johnson is facing criticism from within the House GOP over his short-term government funding proposal, which needs to be passed by the end of the month or the government will shut down on Oct 1.
