Sunday is a First Alert Weather Alert Day for a major winter storm pushing through our area that will result in problematic road conditions and heavy snow into the start of the week. Officials have warned that travel may be "impossible" Sunday and into the start of the work week.

A major winter storm that produced blizzard conditions has dumped more than six inches of snow across most of the Kansas City metro area, according to snow reporters submitted to the National Weather Service. Some areas have seen up to 8 inches, and maybe more. Iowa Environmental Mesonet

The storm will also bring heavy wind: The NWS issued blizzard warnings across central Kansas into southeastern Nebraska and northwestern Missouri, with wind gusts exceeding 40 miles per hour, and the Mid-Atlantic could face 20-25 mile-per-hour gusts in some cases.
