This year’s Preakness Stakes will be the last time it’s run at Pimlico Race Course before the track undergoes massive renovations. While the race won’t feature the Kentucky Derby winner, it will pay out as large a purse as the course has ever seen.

The wrecking ball is just about hovering over Pimlico Race Course, with a complete knockdown and rebuild of the grandstand and other facilities coming.

The 2025 Preakness Stakes takes place this Saturday, May 17, at 4 PM ET on NBC and Peacock. Saturday’s race not only marks the 150th edition of the event, but it will be the final event at the historic Pimlico Race Course as demolition is expected to begin in June, part of the facility’s $400 million redevelopment.
