DOHA (Reuters) - Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani will hold a press conference on Wednesday in Doha where his country has been hosting talks towards a Gaza ceasefire deal, according to an invitation by Qatar's state news agency (QNA).

Negotiators in Qatar appeared close on Wednesday to sealing a deal for a ceasefire in the war in Gaza. Hamas had given verbal approval to the ceasefire and hostage return proposal under negotiation in Qatar and was waiting for more information to give final written approval, a Palestinian official, who asked not to be named, told Reuters.

Qatar will hold a briefing shortly in Doha as Israel and Hamas make a final push for a Gaza ceasefire. Negotiators in Qatar appeared close to sealing a deal for a ceasefire in the war in Gaza between Israel and the militant group Hamas after 15 months of war that has killed tens of thousands of Palestinians.
