The president has revised history when it comes to the sacrifices of America’s allies.

Politicians and military veterans have reacted with outrage after Donald Trump claimed NATO troops, including those from Britain, stayed 'a little off the front lines' during the war in Afghanistan.

"Those British troops should be remembered for who they were: heroes who gave their lives in service of our nation," UK Defence Secretary John Healey said.
