Crews use ladder to rescue passengers from stalled CTA Green Line train; service restored
The situation had Green Line service suspended between the Garfield and Ashland and 63rd stations. Service was restored later Monday morning, the CTA said. Fire crews used a ladder to get 16 people safely off the stopped train one-by-one. The train itself is on an elevated track about 30 feet up.
The fire department responded around 2:37 a.m. to a derailment on the CTA Green Line Englewood extension around 63rd Street and Normal, according to fire department spokesperson Larry Langford.
