Chicago Cubs President Jed Hoyer said left-hander Matthew Boyd has “exceeded expectations” with his stellar first half of the season.

After the compliments ended, Vogt sat back and watched what the Guardians lost when Boyd signed with the Cubs in December. The veteran left-hander worked seven efficient innings to beat the Guardians, 5-2, and extend their losing streak to a season-high five games.
