Now, a new 3-D facial reconstruction has revealed Raphael’s visage—and confirmed that his dying wish of being laid to rest at the Pantheon in Rome was fulfilled.
The Pantheon, which means ‘of all gods’ according to the British Museum, was originally built between 25 and 27 BC, and underwent a reconstruction between 118 and 125 AD.

The lines to get into the Pantheon, one of Rome’s most famous ancient sites, were high-season typical, snaking past the obelisk-topped fountain in the middle of the square to the cafes at the back.
