Allahabad: The All-India Akhara Parishad, the supreme governing body of ‘akharas’ (distinct groups of saints and seers) in the country, on Monday turn.

Each akhara follows a complex hierarchal structure, with a mahant, or leader, above whom there is the mandaleshwar (leader of a group) and then the mahamandaleshwar (great leader of a group).
