A debut almost two years in the making for Craig Breslow and the Red Sox is officially here after a slew of Monday roster moves.

BOSTON — As the Red Sox await further information on Connelly Early’s sore elbow, the club will shake up its pitching staff before Wednesday’s matinee against the Nationals. Early is not being placed on the injured list — at least yet — because the Red Sox are still gathering information on his injury.

Red Sox designated Jack Anderson for assignment. Anderson winds up losing his spot on Boston’s 40-man roster with southpaw Patrick Sandoval coming off the 60-day injured list. The unheralded 26-year-old allowed three runs over eight innings of work during a three-appearance span for the Red Sox earlier this year.

Right-hander Tommy Kahnle cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Worcester by the Red Sox on Friday, according to Kahnle’s MLB.com profile page. Kahnle now has the option of accepting the outright assignment or electing free agency.

The Red Sox made five roster moves while also announcing a trade for infielder Brett Harris on Wednesday morning.
