A South Carolina man is behind bars after allegedly pretending to be a nonprofit that could help a woman design shirts for her late son.

Since 2010, a dozen South Carolina sheriffs have faced criminal charges and mostly convictions. Monday’s acquittal of Marlboro County Sheriff Charles Lemon was a rare exception.
