Sara Safari had never climbed a mountain when she decided to climb Mount Everest. For her first foray into the mountain climbing world, she attempted to reach the top of California's Mount Whitney.

Irvine resident Sara Safari left March 28 for Nepal where she will attempt to climb the world’s highest peak, Mt. Everest, while raising money for an organization that helps educate Nepali girls.
