Toyota issued a recall for excessive mud and dirt build-up, which can wear a hole in the hoses. Toyota is recalling certain 2024 and 2025 Tacoma pickups because mud and dirt build-up could wear a hole in the rear brake lines.

Toyota Tacoma 4WD pickups equipped with 16-inch brakes and 17-inch wheels can develop leaks in the rear brake hoses. Abrasion from accumulated mud and dirt is the root cause. Toyota says affected owners will be notified by mail on April 7,

The largest recall impacts 106,000 MY 2024-25 Tacoma 4-wheel drive vehicles equipped with 16-inch brakes and 17-inch Toyota wheels. The problem revolves around the rear brake hoses which can be damaged over time, especially if there’s build-up of mud and dirt inside the rear wheels.

Tacos with specific brake-and-wheel combos could see mud or dirt rub a hole in their lines.
