Family drama and fights in the kitchen made this one of the more compelling entries in 'Kitchen Nightmares' history.

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is filming in New Orleans this week for his rebooted "Kitchen Nightmares" show, according to Chelsea Shannon at NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune. Why it matters: His disastrous visit to Oceana in 2011 led to the restaurant suing the show twice.

Da Mimmo, a popular Italian restaurant on Veterans Plaza in Dumont, will be closing its doors on Sept. 30, following a tumultuous journey that included a high-profile rescue by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay on his show "Kitchen Nightmares." The restaurant’s owners made the bittersweet announcement on Facebook Tuesday.

Vito Gigante Sr., a Hoboken police detective, bought the restaurant in 2021 with a cousin and business partner. His wife, Melissa Gigante, who also worked as a police officer in Hoboken for 26 years before retiring as a lieutenant, runs Da Mimmo with their son Antonio Gigante.

As with all episodes of Kitchen Nightmares, Chef Ramsay streamlined the menu using fresh ingredients and gave the restaurant a makeover. Gone was the graffiti wall. Instead, Gordon's crew opted for a more rustic and traditional look. This made DaMimmo much warmer, inviting, and less obnoxious.
