The Sooners announced Thursday they've signed former Kennesaw State kicker Austin Welch out of the transfer portal.

The Oklahoma Sooners have played their transfer portal process a bit slow, but it's picked up steam over the last few days. They've picked up a few more pieces in the portal and are now turning to a few more big-name pieces to add to the team for next season.

The Oklahoma Sooners are one of the teams making a run at former five-star prospect Marvin Jones Jr. Jones entered the transfer portal this offseason after spending two seasons at Georgia and then transferring to Florida State for 2024.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Brent Venables said the Oklahoma Sooners aren’t done in the transfer portal.

The Oklahoma Sooners made a splash via the transfer portal when they added former Washington State quarterback and the top player in this year’s portal class, John Mateer. But the Sooners weren’t done at quarterback, adding Western Carolina signal caller Cole Gonzales.

Tuesday, the Sooners added a fourth wide receiver through the portal in California transfer Josiah Martin . The winter transfer portal window is now closed for entrants, but players who have entered the portal are still able to sign with new schools and maintain their eligibility in 2025.
