Typhoon Usagi wreaks destruction in northern Philippines

Tracking Typhoon Usagi
Usagi was a typhoon in the South China Sea Friday morning Philippine Time, the Joint Typhoon Warning Center said in its latest advisory. The typhoon had sustained wind speeds of 81 miles per hour, which would make it a Category 1 hurricane if it were in the Atlantic Ocean.
With gusts reaching 149 mph, Typhoon Usagi struck the coastal town of Baggao in the Cagayan province of the Philippines.
Usagi is expected to maintain a distance of more than 500km from the city and then turn towards Japan’s Ryukyu Islands.
