The Islanders are interested in two members of the Canucks. We reported a few weeks ago that the New York Islanders had inquired about Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson. Per industry sources, the Islanders still have tremendous interest in Pettersson.
The Isles are 8-5-7 in games decided by a single goal including 4-5 in regulation. They are 2-6 in games decided in overtime and are 2-1 in shootouts. The Isles are 3-8 in games in which an empty-net goal turns a 1-goal game into a 2-goal game.
This was the sort of effort which, if the Islanders could replicate it consistently, makes them look like a playoff contender.

The Islanders haven't played since Monday, when they scored three times early in the second period of a 3-1 win over the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets. The Flyers will be completing a back-to-back set in the Big Apple area after taking a 6-1 loss to the New York Rangers on Thursday night.
The New York Islanders (19-20-7) took over a second straight game in the second period, bowling over the Columbus Blue Jackets (22-18-7). The game finished X-1, with Bo Horvat’s second-period pair lifting the Islanders to the win.
The San Jose Sharks had another disappointing performance as the New York Islanders won 4-1 on Saturday night.
