The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has arrested and charged a former Elberton police officer with one count of rape and one count of violation of oath of office.
According to GBI officials, former officer 30-year-old Edar Carreon responded to the home of a victim on December 17, 2024, in reference to a report connected to the victim’s daughter. Later that day, he returned to the home of the victim, and raped her, officials said. They said he did not have a relationship with the victim.
