Google says it will take its cue from the U.S. government if it has to change the names of the Gulf of Mexico and Denali on its maps. The company said Monday that it will only make changes when the government updates its official listings for the body of water and the mountain.

The search and advertising giant said it would change its Google Maps names to Mount McKinley and Gulf of America once they’re officially changed by federal officials.

President Donald Trump's executive order renames the Gulf of Mexico to "Gulf of America" and Alaska's Denali back to Mount McKinley. Google Maps will update its naming conventions following official government sources.
