The Quest 3S is Meta’s step-down headset from the Quest 3 but has a lot of the same features and can play all of the same games. It costs $200 less, too.

Meta’s newest VR headset, the inexpensive Quest 3S, boasts color passthrough cameras and a fast processor for great mixed-reality gaming. Meta also sells the Quest 3 that costs $200 more.

Meta says the Quest 3S has a 2.5-hour runtime and the Quest 3 lasts for 2.2 hours. Several Meta accessories work with both headsets to extend runtime and keep the headsets charged.

Expect two Meta Quest 3S models when it launches on October 15. The entry-level model starts at $299 and packs 128GB of storage. For $399, you can get a model featuring a heftier 256GB of storage.

Meta’s Quest 3S arrived a year later at a substantially lower price, $299 to the Quest 3’s $499. That lower cost appears to have helped less than some might guess.
