The most destructive wildfires in Los Angeles history Thursday have burned more than 27,000 acres, destroyed 1,000 structures, killed five people and upended the lives of tens of thousands of people forced to flee.

Stars including Paris Hilton, Milo Ventimiglia, Tina Knowles, and Jeff Bridges have confirmed the loss of their homes amid thousands in the southern California area.

The list of celebrities who lost their homes and neighbourhoods in the worst fire in Los Angeles history reads like a Hollywood who's who. Jamie Lee Curtis, James Woods, Mandy Moore, Mark Hamill and Maria Shriver were among those who publicly described being forced to evacuate as out-of-control fires swept across some of the most lavish real estate in the world.

The out-of-control fires ripping across Los Angeles cap years of criticism of California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s water management and wildfire mitigation policies that are set to face the wrath of the incoming Trump administration.

The president-elect sought to blame the climate-change-exacerbated crisis in Southern California on the state’s water management. Experts disputed his claims.
