DALLAS — The prospect of snow brings both excitement and, particularly since the February 2021 winter storm that left millions of Texans in the dark, anxiety in North Texas. Snow began falling Thursday morning across North Texas with between 2 and 4 inches of snow and sleet expected in the DFW area.

NORTH TEXAS – Snow continues to fall across North Texas after a winter storm warning was dropped early Friday morning. Several inches of a wintry mix of sleet and snow were forecast to fall over North Texas between Thursday and Friday. This marks the first winter storm of the season.

Nearly half of all flights in and out of DFW International Airport and Dallas Love Field are canceled with snow and sleet falling throughout the region and more expected through Thursday. The FAA issued a ground stop for all flights departing for DFW Airport from other airports,

In total, more than 1,600 flights have been canceled at DFW Airport and Love Field, according to Flight Aware. If your plane is still scheduled, airlines ask passengers to arrive early and to be flexible if planes are rerouted or rescheduled.

According to FlightAware, there are 13,031 flights delayed and 1,650 total cancellations as of Thursday morning.
