Following the mixed reception of Kalki 2898 AD, director Nag Ashwin is reportedly setting his sights on a major female-led film, with Alia Bhatt emerging as the frontrunner for the lead role.

Nag Ashwin’s last film, Kalki 2898 AD starring Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Disha Patani among others revolved around a dystopian world. The film shows a story where Kalki is about to be born to rid the people of their miseries and Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Ashwatthama who has the duty to protect the unborn child.

Alia Bhatt has reportedly signed ‘Kalki’ director, Nag Ashwin’s next female-centric film. Mid-Day reports that Bhatt has given her nod to the project, another giant pan-India film after her appearance in SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’.
