After Councilor Tania Fernandes Anderson was arrested, a ban on using non-disclosure agreements as a condition of employment gained momentum.

The council passed the legislation with the hope that it would improve transparency and promote an ethical working environment, after the indictment of a city councilor who required staff to sign NDAs in order to work for her.

The Boston City Council voted to ban councilors from requiring their staff to enter into non-disclosure agreements as a condition of their employment, in response to a federal indictment that revealed Councilor Tania Fernandes Anderson used them on the people who worked for her.
