The NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC issued an updated winter weather advisory at 3:41 a.m. on Monday. Freezing rain. Additional ice accumulations around one tenth of an inch anticipated for Alexander County until 1 p.m. this afternoon.
Warming centers open in Chicago amid winter weather advisory
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 4 p.m. Counites under the advisory, including Cook and DuPage counties, can expect 3 to 4 inches of snow with higher amounts of up to 5 inches possible, especially in Lake County, Illinois. High temperatures will be in the 20s with lows in the teens.
A quick burst of snow may lead to a few slick spots this afternoon and evening as temperatures rapidly drop below freezing.
