The Pennsylvania Game Commission is conducting tests as Canada geese continue to be found dead near Gettysburg College in Adams County.

The State College wrestling withstood Gettysburg’s six-bout winning streak in the middle of Wednesday’s Mid-Penn Conference dual and closed with three big wins to pull out a 37-27 victory.

State College recorded a technical fall and two pins in the final three bouts and defeated Gettysburg Wednesday night, 37-27, in a Mid-Penn Commonwealth Division dual meet. James Whitbred (152) posted a tech fall and Xavier Zeruth (160) and Alijah Al-Sulaimani (172) pinned their opponents to clinch the victory,

Multiple dead geese were located near a pond on Gettysburg College’s campus. According to Gettysburg College, on Saturday the Pennsylvania Game Commission responded to a reported dead goose near Quarry Pond.

A pond at Gettysburg College is closed after multiple dead geese were found. The Pennsylvania Game Commission is now testing the dead birds for signs of bird flu. "It is a little alarming. Obviously, I am glad the college let us know. I live back in there," said student Jake Bertolini-Felice, a senior.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission said the Quarry Pond on the Gettysburg College campus is being closed after officials found several dead geese there.
