A plane carrying 104 passengers had to abort its takeoff from a Texas airport after a fire broke out in one of the wings.

Passengers were evacuated via slides and stairs from a jetliner at Houston’s main airport after an engine problem during takeoff caused smoke and fire on the right wing.

The crew “safely aborted its takeoff” at the Texas airport due to a “reported engine issue” around 8.35am, the FAA added.
