A man was arrested after he hit and killed a pedestrian with his car while fleeing from an Orlando police officer Wednesday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Since 2015, there have been more than one million hit-and-run crashes in Florida. In those crashes, 2,419 people were killed. Approximately 84% of those crashes happened at dawn, dusk or nighttime.
