Vice President-elect JD Vance is resigning from his seat in the U.S. Senate, effective Friday. Vance made his intentions known in a letter Thursday to Ohio Republican Gov. Mike DeWine, who will choose his successor.

Two years ago this week, JD Vance began a career on Capitol Hill. As he resigns, that part of the Ohio Republican's career is now over.
