In need of an interim home as a result of damage from Hurricane Milton to Tropicana Field, the team has a deal in place with its American League East rival.

The team will play in Tampa next season as its current home, Tropicana Field, undergoes major post-Milton repairs.

After years of failing to do so, the city of Tampa will finally get to be home turf for the Tampa Bay Rays, if only for a season. The Rays announced Thursday that the team would play the 2025 season at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, home to the New York Yankees’ Spring Training.

Hurricane Milton barreled into the west coast of Florida last month and left a path of destruction in its wake. This included the roof of Tropicana Field where the Tampa Bay Rays have played all of its home games since the team's inaugural season in 1998.

Tropicana Field, damaged by the winds of Hurricane Milton, will not be ready for play until at least the start of the 2026 season.
