In a major upset, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was named the 2024 NFL MVP in a historically rare victory Thursday night.

By Amy Tennery NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) -Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was named on Thursday the Most Valuable Player of the 2024 National Football League season, earning the honor for the first time.

Josh Allen had another incredible season in 2024 as he led the Buffalo Bills to a 13-4 record and the AFC championship game where they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. Allen's performance throughout the year made him the MVP after he was voted the most overrated quarterback in the league in an anonymous ESPN poll during the preseason.

Jackson, who led the Ravens to a second straight AFC North championship, got 26 second-place votes and one-fourth for 362 points. Saquon Barkley finished third (120 points), followed by Joe Burrow (82) and Lions QB Jared Goff (47).

Allen became everything the Bills could have dreamed of. And now Allen is an MVP, beating out Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson to win his first NFL MVP award, which was given out at Thursday's NFL Honors show. He's the third Bills player to win the award, joining Thurman Thomas in 1991 and O.J. Simpson in 1973.
