Over 30,000 people were told to evacuate on Tuesday as a wildfire threatens homes in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles.

As wildfires roar into residential neighborhoods, firefighters in California and elsewhere are finding that water systems can’t keep up with the demand.

At around 10 a.m. Wednesday morning, Pacific Palisades, a coastal community of about 23,000 people, was still burning from the wildfires that have swept through the city this week.

Palisades Fire initially started 10:30 a.m. Jan. 7 in Los Angeles County. It has burned 19,978 acres after being active for two days. A crew of 3,073 firefighters has been working on site and they managed to contain 6% of the fire by Thursday evening. The blaze's cause remains under investigation.
