An undocumented immigrant who was arrested at a state-run shelter in Revere last month allegedly with an AR-15 and $1 million worth of fentanyl was not officially part of the emergency assistance

Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey has ordered inspections of all state-run emergency shelters in response to the recent arrest of an undocumented migrant who was living at a Revere shelter site. The man is accused by authorities of crimes including illegal possession of an AR-15 and fentanyl trafficking.

Gov. Maura Healey ordered a full inspection of all state-run shelter units and a “full review” of the intake process to determine if additional steps can be added to prevent criminal activity

"It's outrageous that this individual took advantage of our shelter system to engage in criminal activity," Healey said in a press statement on Monday.

Speaking of funding, Healey is also requesting another $425 million from a reserve account to keep the emergency shelter assistance program running for the next six months. Already, her office announced a series of changes to shorten the length of stay and phase out the use of hotels and motels.
