Federal prosecutors say a former lab manager at Northeastern University has been sentenced to just over a year in prison for staging a hoax explosion at the Boston campus and then lying about what happened to a federal agent.

The former Northeastern Universit​y employee convicted of staging a hoax explosion​ on campus will spend a year in prison.

Federal prosecutors had requested that prison term for Jason Duhaime, 47, writing last week that the “entire incident was a hoax orchestrated by the defendant for reasons that remain largely unclear.”
