UFC lightweight contender Michael Chandler wouldn't bet on his rival Conor McGregor fighting in the cage again.

The news has been revealed by UFC featherweight Diego Lopes, who is aiming to claim the seemingly vacant title, has said the MMA franchise no longer allows reigning champions to defend their current titles while they try and conquer another division.

Conor McGregor will remain among a rare list of UFC stars to hold two belts at the same time, and boss Dana White confirmed that practice is now over. With Ilia Topuira set to move up to lightweight in order to fight champion Islam Makhachev, the Georgian fighter has vacated his Featherweight title to pursue the move up the weight classes.

The former UFC double-champion is still without a fight and hasn't graced the Octagon in nearly four years. With ongoing legal proceedings and non-MMA-related responsibilities, it's looking increasingly unlikely that he will set foot in the Octagon again.
