AMHERST, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Two dead geese found on the campus of UMass Amherst have tested positive for bird flu. The CDC has declared that the current outbreak is primarily an animal health issue and that there is a low risk to the public.

The first two cases of bird flu on the University of Massachusetts campus were discovered over the weekend when two deceased Canadian geese tested positive for disease, the university announced.

Two Canada geese found on the campus of UMass Amherst have tested positive for bird flu. According to the University, the geese tested positive for Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), (H5N1) which is the first known positive test on campus.
