how much is about 5 4X8 sheets of 1/4" Lexan worth?
May 24, 2011 · A few months ago I purchased a brand new 4' x8' sheet of 1/8" Lexan for $80. Odds are your coworkers probably don't have much use for large pieces of clear plastic, but I wouldn't hesitate to bid up to $100 for all of it, but if TIG welders are going for $50, then you should be able to get the stuff pretty cheap.

May 25, 2023 · A 4x8 lexan sheet thick enough for a windshield is going to cost more than glass. It will also need straps to reinforce it, and it will scratch if you even look at it sideways and you can pretty much forget wipers if you ever plan on driving it in rain. Once you drill the frame up for screws, it may be challenging to switch back to glass.

Oct 15, 2018 · Bought a 4x8 sheet of lexan from Home Depot and got to work. Since most sanctioning bodies seem to require that you can demonstrate escape from the vehicle in the case of doors being stuck, the lexan on the doors is held in with a couple of 1/4" pins that can easily be pulled out, allowing the window to either fall into the door or be pushed out.
Anyone ever bend/shape a plexi or lexan sheet into a windshield?
7/4/20 7:54 p.m. Polycarbonate "Lexan" can be bent pretty well cold. I have even put tight folds in it with a sheet metal brake. Acrylic "plexiglass" has much less formability. Acrylic could be made into that windshield, but if bent cold would be very close to its stress failure limit, possibly over, and like Bearmtn says, it shatters sharply ...

If you go to check the thing out, I'd just bring a tape measure along to confirm.

5/14/12 4:51 p.m. You use 1/8-1/4", if you're using less than 3/16" on the windshield you should have support braces or it will bow in at speed. You cut it with a circular saw, ideally while pouring water into the cut. Keep in mind that unprotected lexan will scratch like butter.

2/12/13 3:56 p.m. Mine is made out of Alumalite panel. It is corrugated plastic sandwiched between two thin sheets of aluminun so - very strong in one direction and very lite. Mine is 3/8" thick. IIRC $80 for a 4x8 sheet.That was enough for the front splitter and a flat-bottom diffuser from the rear axle to the bumper.

Oct 13, 2011 · Flatbed with good tie-down points. You don't need sides if you tie well. They get in the way a lot. My car trailer has stake holes. I've never put stakes in them. But they are good tie-down points. Add a stowage box on the tongue or elsewhere to store a bunch of straps, chains, etc. Dedicate them to the trailer.
