Oct 29, 2013 · Toyota has left me hanging. My 2003 Toyota Tacoma with 105,000 miles is un-driveable, due to a rusted frame. And because the recall "program" expired last year, they will offer nothing to correct the problem, claiming that I received seven (yes 7) recall notices. Why would I not respond to or acknowledge seven recall notices???

The bed has a hole through it! The frame is weak every where. Toyota says they had a deadline for the recall of 12/31/11 I never received a recall noticed and they said I was out of luck. Then I was told I didn’t receive a noticed because my truck had been previously under-coated!!!

I see other Tacoma owners that have had the recall ( Re-Frame) done in 2012. If you had your Tacoma's frame replaced in 2012 please email me. [email protected] I would like to hear dates of when frame was inspected and replaced. My truck has been inspected and failed but Toyota is trying to say the recall ended on 12/11. That is not true.

toyota corp was called in to inspect this vehicle and offered to give me $2000.00 to fix it. a service manager said it would cost about $6000.00 to fix. well needles to say i am not paying another 4k on a vehicle that i already owe $11,500.00 on. i have no warranty left to date on this vehicle, and even if i did, the frame would not be covered.

I believe the Toyota dealers hands are tied. You should file a claim directly with Toyota and also file a formal complaint with the NHTSA to be added into their database. Hopefully the NHTSA will receive enough complaints about the "FRAME ROT" of Toyota Sequoia's and force Toyota to issue a "RECALL" of Sequoia frames that rot prematurely.

For those that want to do some research, note that the Toyota Tacoma frame rust issue was not remedied by a recall or lawsuit. Toyota instituted a "Customer Satisfaction" program to buy back 1995-2000 trucks, and replace the frames on 2001-2004 models.

Toyota expects the FIRST of these newly-designed parts to hit the dealerships in JANUARY, 2012. Until then, the recall serves only as a mechanism for individuals who experience an inverter assembly failure to have the inverter replaced for free, even if the car is out of warranty.

I am assuming SOL means statute of limitation. 2005 was not part of the class action. That is the problem.

By Jan. '08 I noticed the paint bubbling up on the back tailgate around the chrome ornament plate. Took it in, was told it would be covereded under the corrosion warranty (10 years, 100,000 mi.) but needed to "rust through" first in order to have it covered. So, I assumed when I started seeing rust through the paint, that it would now be covered.

It already is rusting the door suspension mechanism and leaves sand and dirt around the inner door frame. Does anyone else with a 2001 have this problem? Would mud flaps help, running boards or a makeshift extra gasket? Toyota dealers claim to have no complaints, but their mechanics acknowledge a problem, but have no ideas or solutions.
