Born in Ntungamo, Museveni studied political science from the University of Dar es Salaam where he initiated the University Students' African Revolutionary Front. In 1972, he participated in the abortive invasion of Uganda against the regime of President Idi Amin.

Jan 30, 2025 · While studying political science and economics at the University of Dar es Salaam (B.A., 1970) in Tanzania, he became chairman of a leftist student group allied with African liberation movements. When Idi Amin came to power in Uganda in 1971, Museveni returned to Tanzania in exile.

Yoweri Museveni is the current President of Uganda; a post he has held continuously since 29 January 1986. Prior to his presidency, Museveni held a post in the Ugandan intelligence service and lead various political resistance groups.
