Jan 4, 2019 · The ice in my video was about 8 to 10 inches, I will find out tomorrow what it's truly capable of in 18 inches of ice. It's not about the price, it is about the weight of the auger with the drill much lighter than any gas or electric auger by a mile.

Feb 17, 2006 · The get out on the ice, unroll tarp from both ends till you have 8' or so of tarp out between the poles, and drive the poles into the ice 6 or 8 inches down, leaving 2-3' of slack tarp out. Then pull the tarp tight upwind with the third pole, drive it in, and voila! It helps if the rods have a tapered end for driving into the ice, but not required.
