Single glazed windows will inevitably cause condensation over the colder months as the glass cannot warm up. Replacing single glazing with double or triple glazing will give the window an internal layer of glass, insulated from the temperatures outside, which can warm up with your room and reduce condensation.

The reason we see so much condensation on single glazed glass is that the glass is susceptible to cold and stimulates the dew point from the water vapour in the air. Double glazing helps to reduce condensation because the glass is not as cold as single glazed.

If you only experience condensation between window panes, the problem is typically a faulty seal. You can fix that by replacing the insulated glass panel, which is low-cost and something you may be able to do yourself if you’re handy.

If your property has inefficient, single-pane windows, condensation can be a constant battle during winter and the high heat of summer. The reason is that the windows are poorly insulated. Therefore, the temperature of the glass from outside to inside tends to be extreme, and condensation is created as a result.
