Looking for recommendations for spray bomb chassis paint
Jan 14, 2018 · I started buying Rustoleum in qt. cans and have a Harbor Freight gun dedicated for that use. Thin it with acetone and it works great for chassis and fender well and floor pans. Way cheaper than spray bomb paint. The new spray bombs have a tendency to have more leakage around the nozzles and plugged up cans .

Jun 16, 2020 · Thanks for the responses. Rustoleum has a good choice of different colors so used some for touch up. Mentioned that when buying automotive paint at the local supply and they said other paints wouldn't work over the Rustoleum. Used the Rustoleum primer and color coat combination rattle can, seems to sand ok without clogging the paper.

May 29, 2016 · Chassis saver the best! Some like por 15 also. There is rustoleum industrial spray cans direct to metal. Find at NAPA for about $7 a can. Bigger size can too. Por 15 spray is twice that. Por 15 has a topcoat spray now too in gloss or semi gloss. Can you tell I work at napa. LOL. The paint isle is mine to up keep and stock.

Aug 27, 2011 · (still with the 1.4 tip though) I have read 8:4:1 ratio of paint reducer and hardener but would like some input from guys I trust! if the rustoleum deal works out i can see me painting all sorts of my old beat up shop equipment for practice! I want to be comfortable with the gun and process before I think about paying big money for even primer!

Jul 27, 2012 · I used the Rustoleum Stops Rust line of products thinned 4 parts paint to 1 part mineral spirits and then added 2 ounces of Majic hardener per pint of paint. I have read that any type of enamel hardener will probably work but I used the Majic just because it was readily available at the local Rural King store.

Oct 1, 2007 · Rustoleum makes their own thinning agent, but if I'm not mistaken, it's just a dolled up can of X-brand thinner (mineral spirits) that costs twice as much. I've been trying to finish spraying a 60-ft gate/fence out back, and w/o thinning the paint (Hammertone) at least 4:1, it comes out too thick.

Feb 27, 2012 · I didn't have any peeling or lifting issues, but i didn't put anything more than spray bomb primer in a few spots. It is not workable. The Rustoleum is hard as a rock, and hard to work anything more than scuffing the surface. I have a decent looking 20 footer, but even after blocking the first 2 coats, it didn,t get any smoother. Strip It.

Jul 20, 2009 · So unless Rustoleum themselves make a clear, I think you're out of luck. But I've seen gallons of automotive paint on sale for under $100 (Martin Senour in a Napa store a while back), if you want a finish you can clear coat over you probably should be using that.
