“The Rose” (starring Bette Midler-Fansite) was released in 1979. Rodney Dillard, Doug Dillard, and Byron Berline got the opportunity to play the backup band for Harry Dean Stanton. The project started out as a dramatized biography of Janis Joplin but they had to “generalize” it after the Janis Joplin Estate wouldn’t sign off. We’re onscreen for about ten minutes or so.
